ODEION

According to the inscriptions unearthed, the
Odeion was built around the 150 years AD. by
Publius Vedius Antonius and his wife Flavia
Papiana, members of a distinguished family in
Ephesus.
The fact that this edifice, assumed to have
been roofed at the time, is in the same group of
adjoining structures with the Prytaneion and the
State Agora is an indication that it has been used
both as a concert hall and as a Bouleterion
(Council chamber).
Divided into two by a Diazoma (passage
separation the rows of seats crosswise) seated
1400 spectators on 23 rows. Its two storey
Skene (Stage) in front of which there is a
narrow podium, has a theatrical appearance
